Brings the First Century to life This is a wonderful book, that has framed a fresh view of Paul for me that extends well beyond the man I imagined him to be. Written in beautiful prose, and carefully researched, what came through most clearly for me was a sense of the world in which Paul operated, a vivid picture of the contexts he lived and worked in. This was very timely for me, as someone who had been struggling to relate to First Century life, and with this, feeling quite disconnected with Christianity (I am an interfaith minister, not specifically following the Christian tradition). Paul’s vital role as one whose life and ministry is second only to that of Jesus in enabling an understanding of the Christian purpose, and full message of the New Testament, to be realised. A real gem of a find. Better than the film
